Welcome to the Cornwall School of
Art, Craft and Jewellery
What we do
Jewellery making is our thing! Here you can learn to make jewellery like a true alchemist using metal clay. You can also learn how to easily add colour and texture to your work which is what makes metal clay such a fantastic medium. Our principle tutor and director of the school is Julia Rai, internationally well known metal clay artist, tutor and writer. She teaches all our metal clay classes. We also run master classes with international tutors in other types of jewellery making so check out what we have coming up…
From half day taster metal clay classes to week long master classes, we have something for everyone.
Complete beginner? No problem, we’re friendly and welcoming and you’ll soon be creating something stunning in silver clay.
Want to improve your skills? Intermediate or advanced metal clay classes, private classes or approved Art Clay Diploma qualification courses are just the thing to help you develop…
We stock Dockyard carving tools and Drake micro carving tools. Both of these brands are fantastic for carving wood, lino, silicone carving blocks, baked polymer clay and dry metal clay. You can also buy Julia’s book here. Making Metal Clay Jewellery is a great introduction to working with silver metal clay and you can even get it signed by Julia!
We have metal clay classes and courses at all levels plus other classes in a variety of subjects. Our speciality is metal clay and we also run complementary classes like texture making and adding colour. Our Art Clay World approved Diploma courses are very popular with people keen to make metal clay their business.
And our master classes are something else!
Awesome classes, expert tutors in a stunning location... a great place to learn something new and see the sites
“Cornwall is very primeval: great, black, jutting cliffs and rocks, like the original darkness, and a pale sea breaking in, like dawn. It is like the beginning of the world, wonderful…” DH Lawrence, letter 1961
