You will make at least five silver jewellery items, then fire and finish them to a good standard during this two day course. This course is designed to take your silver metal clay skills to the next level.
This is one of our silver jewellery making courses specifically developed for more experienced metal clay artists who want to improve their skills. It will enable you to develop your silver clay skills to a higher standard. You may also like to consider a complementary skills private class like making your own unique textures or adding colour to your metal clay jewellery.
Level: A good level of skill with metal clay is required as this is an advanced level course
Timings: 10am – 5pm each day
This advanced silver metal clay course is suitable for anyone with a good level of experience working with metal clay. If you have attended an Intermediate Metal Clay course then you will be fine on this course. Our principle metal clay tutor Julia Rai will guide you through every step, helping you to achieve your jewellery making goals. We guarantee you will come out with some great jewellery and learn lots of new skills.
This two day metal clay course will introduce you to new techniques through some more advanced metal clay jewellery projects. The emphasis will be on combining metal clay with other media to make your own jewellery. This will include adding gold foil and embedding sterling silver. The focus will be on having fun while improving your technique.
During this course you’ll create:-
- a pendant with a bezel set stone and fancy bail
- stud earrings with Sterling silver posts
- a hollow form dry construction focal bead
- a charm with 24ct gold embellishment
What skills will you learn?
During the two days, you’ll learn the following skills:-
- How to apply gold to fine silver using keum boo
- Combining fine and sterling silver prior to firing
- How to set heat sensitive stones
- Designing and creating a hollow form bead
- Liver of sulphur patina
Julia will help you master advanced metal clay skills to create beautiful fine silver jewellery with your own design ideas. All the equipment you need will be provided and you can buy additional materials should you wish to. At the end of the day you will have enough advanced metal clay knowledge and confidence to create more complex pieces of jewellery using the appropriate metal clay for your design.
How much metal clay is included in the price?
The course cost includes everything you need to make all the projects including silver metal clay, 22ct gold foil, a choice of natural stones and Sterling and fine silver wire. The value of the materials is over £112. You can purchase chains or ear wires on the class or bring your own to use.
