We’re delighted to welcome American metal clay master Terry Kovalcik back to Cornwall to teach this new, advanced level master class. In this four day class, you’ll create a unique pod pendant. With a combined hinge and bail structure, this little pod pendant can be opened to reveal an inner world of moveable, interconnected elements. Instalment payments for this class are available and a £100 non-refundable deposit secures your place. The balance must be paid by the end of May 2020.

In this four day class, you’ll be working with self mixed PMC Sterling Flex clay and 50g of this mixed clay is included in the price. This formula is very easy to carve and it is a good choice for making hollow forms.
The class has been rescheduled and now runs from Friday 10th until Monday 13th July 2020
Timings: 10am – 5pm each day
Skill Level: Advanced level metal clay skills are required, this is not a beginner level class. Terry advises an experience level gained on three-plus previous metal clay classes.

In this step-by-step four day class, learn how to construct and carve this hollow-form locket with its hidden magnetic closure. Using a mixture of PMC Flex and PMC Sterling Silver, learn to accurately cut and construct all the elements for both the outside and inside. Once fired, learn to properly polish and assemble the locket.
Terry Kovalcik will teach a wide range of skills and as usual with Terry’s workshops, a high level of precision will be required. This class will develop your skills to a whole new level – are you ready for the challenge?

What is included in the Price?
Terry Kovalcik’s choice of clay for this project is a mixture of PMC Flex and PMC Sterling. 25g of each is included in the price, making a 50g lump of mixed clay which is more than enough to complete the project. Terry will also supply all the consumables needed including sterling wire, tiny magnets for the catch and embeddable CZs.
What do I need to bring with me to Terry Kovalcik’s master class?
- Dockyard carving tools – there will be some to share in the studio but you may have to wait. You can also buy them from the School when you are here. If you have your own set, please bring them along with a stropping kit if you have one. There will be a stropping kit available to use in the studio if your tools need sharpening.
- A standard clay toolkit listed below will be available in the studio but please bring your own if you have any of these tools you particularly like to work with:-
- work surfaces
- release (oil, Badger Balm etc)
- clay roller
- thickness guides (playing cards, slats etc)
- slip brushes
- clay shapers
- sharp Exacto or scalpel blades
- clay pick or pin tool
- sanding/filing tools
- drying forms
- plus any other favourite clay tools
Terms and Conditions of Terry Kovalcik’s Masterclass Instalment Payment Option
If you paid the £100 non-refundable deposit for Terry’s Masterclass, you are now required to pay regular instalments until the full balance is cleared. The earlier you secure your place, the longer you have to pay the balance.
The deposit secures your place on Terry’s class subject to regular instalment payments. You will receive an email from the school on payment of the deposit and a schedule of payments will be agreed. This can be a monthly payment due on a specific date or a number of lump sum payments over a period of time. Once agreement of the payment schedule is set, you must ensure that payments are made on time.
The full cost of the class must be paid by the end of May 2020.
